As the realism of your home theater cinematic experience takes over your senses, you are transported to the places on the screen, experience all the sights and sounds as if you were there. Or at least that's the way it should be and it can be if you buy the ideal components for home theater use.

For a spectacular home theater experience, the three main components should each be the best possible - A television with a bigger and wider screen , a DVD player and a good quality set of surround- sound speakers.

When choosing a TV, you want one that is at least 27 inches for the best home theater experience. Most movies are produced in wide screen format and wide screen TV's are more like a real movie screen in shape. Also, most of these TV's will have great resolution so you will get a clear, sharp picture. Choose between LCD TV, flat panel plasma, or front (or rear) projection TV's.

A good DVD player is one of the ideal components for home theater use and should be able to handle high definition DVD disc formats. Most of the players are able to play DVD movies, music CDs and MP3s.Movies recorded onto CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs can also be played on these. If you go in for a multi disc player you can keep several movies and CDs loaded ,and play them as and when you want. A clear sharp picture is ensured if you have a DVD player with progressive scan. For your personal use you can record movies and television programs onto blank discs on a DVD player/ recorder. You can download and store your favourite shows on DVD-R recorders as they have large hard drives.

To make sure that your home theater system has a good sound system too ,check reviews in audiovisual magazines for the best rated speakers. While perhaps not the ideal components for home theater, the audio sound can come from a starter set consisting of center left and right speakers, plus a sub woofer for more robust bass sounds. To make sure that the sound is suitable to your liking ,it will be good to first try to listen to the sound coming from the speakers and then take a decision for buying, judging the best from what is available. Do not hurry up in buying all these things and visit several different stores before taking the decision.
